“Tomorrow I am going to change!”, many people have exclaimed before, to manifest their good resolutions for the future. But often times, they are either given up on after a short while, or not even attempted at all.
What stops you from being who you always wanted to be?
In solus+ipse (Die letzte Zeremonie) Edward Roth explores the room between today and tomorrow in their performative self-staged portraits in order to try and make the process of change visible.
To achieve that, they dare to look at the inside by isolating themself inside of the studio for five consecutive days, which is transformed into a contemplative space.
There, they question hallmarks of their identity, their view on the outside world and behavioral patterns which they considered given.
During this timeframe, they undergo a transformation and learn to appreciate themself and their environment in a different way.
